COOK LOOKING FOR HOME COMFORTS

2 October 2015

Boss wants better Fratton form

It took until the 10th game of the season for Pompey to finally suffer a League Two defeat.

But Paul Cook is still hoping to see a vast improvement in his side’s home form.

They have collected eight points from a possible 15 at Fratton Park this term, compared to 11 from 15 on the road.

And with Yeovil visiting the south coast this weekend, Cook hopes Pompey can improve on their own patch.

The Blues boss said: “We’d liked to have taken more points at home, although our away form is very strong.

“We want to be better and beat our opponents – no matter what tactics or formation they use.

“It’s up to us find a way through and unfortunately we haven’t been able to do that on enough occasions. That needs to change.

“I would imagine you might see a change or two against Yeovil – there are lads in our side who want to play, but haven’t been.

“My job is to put a team out on the pitch that are able to talk about a positive result come 5pm on Saturday.”

Yeovil currently sit just one place above the relegation places and have lost their last two games.

Cook said: “The success they enjoyed recently in getting to the Championship was nothing short of miraculous.

“Unfortunately, they’ve been on a downward spiral since then, but they’re a smashing club and have proved that smaller sides can go to bigger places and do well.

“They’ve had horrific luck with injuries so far this season, so they’ll pick up more points when they get those players back on the pitch.

“In Paul Sturrock they’ve certainly got a manager who knows the game and I’m sure he’ll be able to do well there.

“But my job is just to concentrate on Portsmouth Football Club and that’s what I’ll be focusing on.”
