MATCH PREVIEW: POMPEY v YEOVIL

2 October 2015

All you need to know about League Two clash

Pompey will look to recover from losing their unbeaten run by returning to winning ways against Yeovil on Saturday.

The sides have only met three times previously in a competitive contest, with the Blues triumphing in the most recent clash – a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie at Huish Park last season.

Back then the Glovers were a League One side, but finished bottom of the table to suffer a second successive relegation.

And they have made a slow start to the current campaign, losing their last two matches to sit just above the relegation places.

Paul Sturrock’s side have won just once on their league travels this term – a 1-0 triumph at Crawley last month.

They have a trio of former Fratton faces in their side, with Ryan Bird leading the club’s scoring charts, having netted four times.

Wes Fogden made his comeback from injury in Tuesday night’s loss at Accrington, while Jack Compton has been sidelined for the last four games with a calf problem.

TEAM NEWS
Goalkeepers Paul Jones (knee), Brian Murphy (groin) and Michael Poke (shoulder) are all still sidelined.

Defender Jack Whatmough (knee), midfielder Ben Close (hamstring) and striker Adam McGurk (ankle) will also miss out.

Yeovil have been beset by injury problems this season, although Compton, Ryan Dickson, Marc Laird and Omar Sowunmi are all close to returning.
