All you need to know about JPT clash

Pompey begin their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy campaign with a trip to Exeter on Tuesday night.

They saw off League One opposition with a 3-1 triumph at Yeovil at this stage of the competition last term, before losing at home to Northampton.

The Grecians, who also went out in the second round, have reached the area finals on three occasions, most recently in 2011.

Paul Tisdale’s side have had a mixed start to the current season, with two victories, two defeats and a draw in League Two.

They won 2-1 at Swindon in the first round of the Capital One Cup before going down 6-3 in a thrilling match at Premier League outfit Sunderland.

Pompey took four points off Exeter last term, triumphing 1-0 at home following a 1-1 stalemate at St James Park on the opening day.

TEAM NEWS
Paul Cook is expected to hand debuts to several young players, while Adam Barton and Kal Naismith might also make their first appearances after returning to training.
