BENNETT: GAMES ARE MASSIVE

22 April 2016

Winger interviewed in Wycombe programme

With hopes of automatic promotion drifting away, there is an air of disappointment around Fratton Park.

But Kyle Bennett knows that there is still time to make sure it is a successful season for Pompey.

Even if they are unable to claw their way into the top three, the Blues can still secure a League Two play-off spot.

And Bennett is excited by the fact that the remaining few games have so much riding on them.

“It’s massive,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Wycombe. “We’re at the business end of the season now and know that we need to get some more points on the board.

“They’re only going to get bigger from this point, but it’s games like these that are the reason why you want to be a footballer in the first place.

“It’s been a few years since the fans here have had something to shout about, so even if we’re in the play-offs then it’s still be a successful campaign.

“Let’s hope it can still be done automatically, but there are two ways to win promotion and that’s our ultimate aim.”

To read the full interview – where Bennett also talks about his personal form and the importance of confidence – pick up a copy of the matchday magazine from programme sellers around the ground on Saturday.

Also in issue 28, Michael Smith dishes the dirt on his team-mates and Kieron Freeman selects his dream team.

We take an in-depth look at Wycombe before delving into the archives to take a walk down memory lane.

There are also exclusive columns from chairman Iain McInnes, manager Paul Cook and skipper Michael Doyle.

All this and much, much more in a packed 84 pages is available for just £3.
