ROSE: OUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE

19 August 2016

Midfielder interviewed in Colchester programme

It has been a cause of frustration ever since Pompey were relegated to the fourth tier in 2013.

And Danny Rose believes visiting sides will continue to adopt a defensive mindset at Fratton Park.

Carlisle decided to play with no strikers after having a man sent off on the opening day of the campaign.

So Rose knows that finding a way to break teams down could have a huge impact on their season.

“We’re well aware that’s the way most teams will come and set up against us at Fratton Park,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Colchester.

“That’s something we’re constantly working on in training and I’m sure it will be our biggest challenge this term

“When sides come here it’s the biggest game of their season and there’s no doubt that each player raises their game at least a couple of per cent. That definitely makes a difference.

“When you’re a big fish in the division then you’re there to be shot at, but that comes with the territory and we have to find a way to win.”

To read the full interview – where Rose also discusses his goal record and playing alongside Michael Doyle – pick up a copy of the magazine from programme sellers around the ground.

Also in issue two, Ben Tollitt takes the 20 Questions challenge, while we test Gareth Evans’ general knowledge.

There’s an in-depth look at Colchester, plus exclusive columns from Iain McInnes, Paul Cook and Michael Doyle.

All this and much, much more in a packed 84 pages is available for just £3.
