HOLLANDS GLAD TO BE BACK

23 February 2016

Midfielder ready to win back his place

He has missed the last five matches after suffering a fracture in his leg.

But now Danny Hollands is feeling fit and raring to go as Pompey prepare to face Barnet on Tuesday night.

The midfielder has made 23 appearances so far this season and built up a solid partnership with Michael Doyle in the centre.

So now he is hoping to win back his place in the team as soon as possible and help the Blues climb the table.

Hollands said: “It’s not great being injured and it’s frustrating when you have to watch from the sidelines.

“So it’s nice to be back training with the rest of the lads and now I’m looking to get back into the side and play some games.

“It was a fracture in my leg and it meant I was in a boot for two weeks, but thankfully the recovery has been quite quick.

“Some of the other lads have had longer lay-offs, so I’m happy to be back doing what I love.”

Pompey have won just one of their last five league games and Hollands knows that results must improve.

He said: “We have been a bit up and down this season, so we need to get back to winning ways.

“We want to go out there on Tuesday and pick up three points – and then there’s another match a few days later.

“You can quickly build a run of positive results and then suddenly you’re a team in form.

“There are a lot of big games coming up against sides around us in the table, so it’s an important period and we need to step up to the plate.”
