BENNETT: WE'RE STARTING TO FLOW

1 January 2016

Winger happy with recent form

Pompey were only able to collect one point from their final two fixtures of 2015.

But Kyle Bennett believes they are in a good place to welcome in the New Year ahead of Crawley’s visit on Saturday.

The winger created both of the Blues’ goals in their Boxing Day defeat at Leyton Orient.

And Bennett is happy with the way he and the rest of his team-mates have been performing in recent weeks.

He said: “I’ve found a little bit of form recently, but I think the team have in general.

“We’re starting to flow and, apart from the game at Orient when we had a player sent off, we look defensively solid.

“I think my performances have been more consistent and I’m creating chances, so I’m feeling good.

“I won’t shy away from the ball or hide away and I feel more confident than I perhaps did a few weeks ago.

“We’re all looking forward to the Crawley game, although if they play the way they did earlier in the season then we’ll have to find a way to break them down.

“A few sides have come here and set up like that this season. We have to expect that and find a way to deal with it.”

Bennett is pleased to see Gary Roberts back in contention, with the midfielder making recent cameo appearances from the bench after two months out with an ankle problem.

He said: “It’s massive for us because you can see the quality that he brings to our side.

“He was brought in as the marquee signing and he’ll be pushing for starts now, so everyone else will have to watch out!”
