BETTING PREVIEW: POMPEY v BOURNEMOUTH

27 January 2016

Back the Blues with Sky Bet

There have not been many occasions this season when Pompey entered a match as underdogs with the bookies.

But, unsurprisingly, it is Premier League side Bournemouth who are 11/8 favourites with Sky Bet to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup at Fratton Park this weekend.

The League Two hosts can be backed at 2/1 to cause an upset, with the draw available at 23/10.

Pompey won 5-1 the only other time they faced the Cherries in this competition and a repeat of that scenario is priced at 200/1.

A more realistic punter might instead fancy the 10/1 on offer for a more conservative 2-1 triumph.

Marc McNulty leads the first goalscorer market at 13/2, with Conor Chaplin, Gareth Evans and Adam Webster following at 7/1, 15/2 and 40/1 respectively.

Matt Ritchie is 15/2 to strike first against his former club, with fellow former Fratton favourite Sylvain Distin at 50/1.

But if you think that Pompey’s cup adventure will go beyond the fourth round, take a look at the 16/1 available for them being the Football League side to progress the furthest.
