Defender interviewed in Saturday's programme
Matt Clarke is enjoying his football education on the south coast.
The 19-year-old centre-back has produced plenty of assured performances since arriving on loan from Ipswich last summer.
He had to be patient after a spell out of the side before Christmas, but is now firmly back in contention.
And Clarke believes that his season with Pompey will help him improve as a player.
“It’s been great to be back in the side in the past few weeks,” he says in the award-winning matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Oxford.
“It wasn’t nice for Burge when he got injured and missed out, but you just need to get on with it and I had to make sure that I took my chance to impress the manager.
“I’m happy with the way I’ve performed overall, but I didn’t come here as the finished article. I’ve got a lot to learn and playing games is the best way to do that.
“There will be mistakes along the way, but by the end of the season you’ll hopefully have seen a big change.”
