Skipper pens new deal
Michael Doyle has signed a one-year extension to his Pompey contract.
The new deal will keep the 34-year-old Blues skipper at Fratton Park until the summer of 2017.
The Irish midfielder has made 26 appearances for the club since arriving from Sheffield United back in July.
And Doyle is hoping that they can build on a solid start to the campaign by going on to earn promotion to League One.
He said: “I’m delighted to have signed a new contract because I’m very happy here at Pompey.
“I’ve enjoyed working with a great bunch of players and staff in the first half of the season and am looking forward to what’s ahead.
“Everyone here is putting in a lot of effort to bring success to this club and it’s an extremely professional environment to be a part of.
“Hopefully we can do better in the second half of the season and we’re all fully focused on trying to win promotion.”
