MATCH PREVIEW: ACCRINGTON v POMPEY

15 January 2016

All you need to know about League Two clash

Pompey’s attentions turn back to a promotion push when they visit Accrington this weekend.

Their hosts have played in away games in succession, with a series of postponements meaning they have not featured on their own patch since November 14.

They have as many as four games in hand over other sides in the division and have played three fewer games than the Blues.

But Stanley still occupy the final play-off spot and are only nine points adrift of the top three.

John Coleman’s side were, however, recently rocked by the news that Matt Crooks and top scorer Josh Windass have signed pre-contract agreements with Rangers.

Accrington’s last outing was a 3-2 victory at Mansfield a fortnight ago that ended a three-match winless run.

They have already visited Fratton Park twice this season, drawing 0-0 in the league before being defeated 1-0 in the second round of the FA Cup.

TEAM NEWS
Danny Hollands is out for the next few weeks after suffering a fractured fibula, while the game has come too soon for Christian Burgess and Paul Jones continues his recovery from knee surgery.

Matt Clarke is available again after being ineligible for the FA Cup tie at Ipswich, with skipper Michael Doyle also back in contention after being rested at Portman Road.

Top scorer Josh Windass (groin) is a doubt for the hosts, who will also be without Dean Winnard (ankle).
