All you need to know about Emirates FA Cup clash
Pompey will look to secure a fourth round Emirates FA Cup clash with Bournemouth by seeing off Ipswich at Fratton Park tonight.
Paul Cook’s side have not been in action since the 2-2 draw at Portman Road in the initial tie 10 days ago.
The Tractor Boys have been a bit busier, however, beating Leeds 2-1 and drawing 1-1 with Preston in the Championship since narrowly avoiding a cup upset.
Those results leave them sitting seventh in the second tier table – with only goal difference keeping them outside the play-off places.
Pompey have met Ipswich on two previous occasions in the FA Cup – and won both games away by a single goal.
Dario Silva’s effort secured progress in 2006, while David Nugent found the target two years later.
Harry Redknapp’s side went on to beat Plymouth, Preston, Manchester United, West Brom and Cardiff to lift the trophy at Wembley.
TEAM NEWS
Christian Burgess is set to return to Pompey’s defence after recovering from an ankle injury, with Adam Barton moving to midfield.
Matt Clarke is ineligible to play against his parent side, while Danny Hollands (leg) and Paul Jones (knee surgery) are both out.
Ipswich are expected to ring the changes from their league battle with Preston at the weekend.
