McNULTY LOVES ATTACKING MENTALITY

2 January 2016

Goalscorer enjoying Pompey philosophy

Pompey got 2016 off to the perfect start with a 3-0 triumph over Crawley.

And on-loan goalscorer Marc McNulty is enjoying being part of such an attack-minded side.

He added to Matt Clarke’s opener by converting an Enda Stevens cross midway through the first half at Fratton Park.

Gary Roberts then came off the bench to wrap up a comfortable victory for the Blues late on.

And McNulty was delighted that Pompey were able to keep up their automatic promotion challenge.

He said: “It’s very pleasing. It was a big game after a bad Christmas period and all the boys knew how important it was to pick up three points.

“In the first half it was certainly a good performance – we were excellent at times.

“The great thing about being here as a striker is that you know you’re going to get a few chances in every game.

“The gaffer likes us to have a lot of possession and to continuously be on the attack, which is brilliant.

“Enda put in some great crosses and thankfully I was able to get on the end of one of them at the far post.

“It’s also great to have a guy like Robbo coming back. He’s a top, top player and has a lot to give to the side.

“And credit to Lavs because he makes a lot of unselfish runs to take defenders out of the game. That’s something we work on in training all the time.”
