POMPEY EXTEND CLARKE LOAN

5 January 2016

Defender to remain at Fratton Park

Matt Clarke’s loan from Ipswich has been extended until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old defender has made 21 appearances since arriving at Fratton Park last summer.

He has helped the Blues keep nine clean sheets and netted his first senior goal in Saturday’s win over Crawley.

And Clarke believes that he will continue to improve throughout the second half of the campaign.

He said: “I’m delighted because I’m happy here and looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings.

“I’ve come a long way from my earlier games and I’ll only get better playing alongside the guys at Pompey.”

Clarke will not be able to feature against his parent club when the Blues visit Portman Road in the third round of the FA Cup this weekend.
