Defender looking forward to Ipswich test

Adam Webster is hoping to help Pompey achieve an Emirates FA Cup upset at Ipswich on Saturday.

The Blues travel to Portman Road to face a side currently sitting in the Championship play-off places.

But they have already seen off second tier outfit Derby in the League Cup this term before being narrowly beaten by Reading.

And Webster is confident that they can also produce a positive display against the Tractor Boys.

The defender said: “It’ll be a big test for us at the weekend, but it’s one that we’re all looking forward to.

“We’ve already come up against two Championship sides this season and put in a good performance in both games.

“So we’ll go to Ipswich with no pressure on us and who knows what can happen on the day.

“They’re doing well in the league this year and fighting for the play-offs, so we know it’s going to be tough.

“But we fancy our chances and hopefully we can go there and cause a bit of an upset to reach the fourth round.”

Webster has enjoyed being a regular member of Pompey’s back-line in recent weeks.

He said: “I’m delighted with how the season has gone so far. I didn’t start the first few games, but I was patient and waited for my chance.

“Apart from the Boxing Day match – where I was a bit unfortunate to get sent off – I’ve done alright and hopefully I can keep that up.”
