SALISBURY v POMPEY: MATCH PREVIEW

19 July 2016

All you need to know about pre-season clash

Pompey will make the short trip to Salisbury this evening as their pre-season preparations continue at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium (7pm kick-off).

The Whites are led by former Blues player and manager Steve Claridge, who guided them to the Wessex League Premier Division title last term.

He netted 37 goals in 122 games during his time at Fratton Park and was inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2012.

Claridge can call upon the services of Pompey academy graduates George Colson, Josh Warren and Elliot Wheeler.

Salisbury will now compete in the Evo-Stik Southern League South and West Division and are searching for their first pre-season win.

They have been defeated by Bristol Rovers and Basingstoke this summer, with a draw at Chichester sandwiched in between.

QUOTES
Claridge told The News: “Hopefully it will be a good crowd. It will be lovely to see a few people down from Pompey – they always make a great atmosphere.

“It will be good fun. It’s a nice ground, the supporters will be well looked after and it will be relaxed.”
