All you need to know about pre-season clash

Pompey will look to continue their free-scoring pre-season form when they travel to Sutton on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Us will compete in the highest level of the non-league game next season after claiming the National League South title last term.

They faced a Fulham XI in their first friendly of the summer six days ago, going down 3-1 at the Borough Sports Ground.

Former Pompey utility man Shaun Cooper has been at Sutton for the past two years, while ex-Blues striker Ian Baird is the club’s head coach.

The Surrey outfit have also swooped to sign Roarie Deacon, who had a short spell on loan at Fratton Park earlier in the summer.

Sutton boss Paul Doswell, speaking about the club’s artificial surface, told The News: “It looks like grass, plays like grass and is the future.

“And we are looking forward to hosting Pompey in front of what we are expecting to be a really good crowd.”

Pompey PlayerHD subscribers can listen to live online commentary from the Borough Sports Ground from 2pm on Saturday.

We’ll also have match updates on Twitter and the Pompey Wall.

There will be post-match reaction on the website, Pompey PlayerHD and our official YouTube channel, with highlights to follow on Sunday.

Local listeners can hear commentary on Express FM (not online), while The News will also have extensive coverage.

Tickets can be bought at the Borough Sports Grond on the day of the game. They are priced £10 for adults, £5 for seniors (60+) and students, and £2 for juniors (under 16).
