COMMENTATE ON POMPEY GAMES

21 June 2016

Volunteers wanted for audio description service

Have you ever wanted to be a football commentator?

The Audio Description Service, in partnership with Pompey Disabled Supporters’ Association, is looking for two ‘full-time’ volunteer audio description commentators for Blues home matches.

Based at Fratton Park, commentaries will usually take place on Saturday afternoons at 3pm, with the audio describer being at the game two hours prior to kick-off.

Some matches will be played midweek at 7.45pm (usually Tuesday or Wednesday evenings). The same criteria still applies.

The role is open to anyone, although you should note the commentary position at Fratton Park is only accessible by stairs, and no previous experience is needed.

Colin Farmery, the club’s head of inclusion, said: “We are delighted to support this service, which was set up by the DSA last season.

“Visually impaired fans who have accessed the commentary have been very complimentary. It is a sign of its quality that two additional commentators need to be recruited.”

To apply, please email jamesmrichardson95@gmail.com and leave your name and contact details, telling the service why you wanted to apply.

The closing date is Saturday, July 2 and full training will be given.
