LALKOVIC: I'LL ADD FLAIR

28 June 2016

Winger excited about Blues move

Milan Lalkovic was a point away from winning promotion to the Championship last season.

But he has no qualms about dropping into League Two to help Pompey try to climb out of the basement.

The winger scored eight times in 51 appearances during his single campaign with Walsall and has now agreed a two-year deal with the Blues.

And he is excited about the opportunity of turning out in front of a passionate Fratton faithful.

Lalkovic said: “Promotion is the aim of the club – we have the potential to do something very good and I’m excited about the new season.

“I’ve dropped down a league, but I don’t mind because if we achieve something then everyone will want to play for Pompey again.

“Every game is going to be big because of the fans here and hopefully we will have a good relationship.

“I will bring flair to the side and hopefully some goals and assists, while also working hard for the team.

“I scored a few last season and have it in me to get 10-plus – I suppose I’ve just put myself under pressure there!”

Pompey, at times, struggled to break down defence-minded sides at Fratton Park during the 2015/16 campaign, but Lalkovic believes they can overcome that obstacle.

He said: “We had a problem like that at Walsall last season – sometimes we managed to get over it and sometimes we didn’t.

“But we have the players to do some magic and break down other sides, so hopefully we will have luck on our side.”
