Assistant manager looks ahead to the 2016/17 campaign
Most fans will be happy that Pompey start the 2016/17 campaign at Fratton Park.
The fixture list reveal gave the Blues a home clash with Carlisle to look forward to on Saturday, August 6.
They will also end the season on their own patch, with Cheltenham the visitors nine months down the line.
Leam Richardson was one of many who checked the internet this morning to see what was in store.
But he believes that the order of the games will not have too much impact on how the table ends up.
Pompey’s assistant manager said: “There’s always great anticipation from fans and football clubs around the country.
“You look out for certain dates and certain teams and it’s an exciting day for everybody.
“But, ultimately, you have to play everyone twice and win more games than the others if you want to be successful.
“We’ve learnt a lot from last season and there’s plenty for us to digest – both on and off the pitch.
“If we’re better in certain aspects of our game then I’m sure that we’ll be fine this year.”
