BETTING PREVIEW: POMPEY v PLYMOUTH

11 May 2016

Back the Blues with Sky Bet

There has been little to separate Pompey and Plymouth in the league this season.

There were only three points between them in the final fourth tier standings, while each side triumphed 2-1 on the other’s patch.

But it is the Blues who are evens favourites with Sky Bet to claim a victory in the first leg of Thursday’s play-off semi-final at Fratton Park.

The visitors – who host the return fixture on Sunday – can be backed at 3/1, with the draw at 9/4.

Kal Naismith has scored in each of the last two games and there are odds of 60/1 on him netting the opener in a 2-0 victory.

But it is Marc McNulty who leads the first goalscorer market at 9/2, with Conor Wilkinson, Gary Roberts and Christian Burgess at 11/2, 6/1 and 33/1 respectively.

Both sides might already be thinking of penalties in the second leg, but you can also put money on two or more being scored at Fratton at 28/1.

A shot inside the area is the favoured method of opening goal at 10/11, although you might reckon it will be from outside the box at 5/1 or even a direct free-kick at 28/1.

Please note that odds are subject to change.
