FORDE: CONTROLLED AND COMPOSED

23 November 2016

Keeper wants good form to continue

A 3-1 victory at Luton hinted that Pompey are starting to hit their stride.

And David Forde believes they have picked the perfect time to find form ahead of the hectic festive period.

Michael Smith, Gareth Evans and Kal Naismith were all on target as the Blues fought from behind to move up to fourth spot in the table.

It means that they have lost just one of their last seven league fixtures and Forde wants to see that run continue.

The goalkeeper said: “It was a big victory for us and one that we needed because we wanted to show what we had to offer.

“The manner in which we won the game was excellent because we were very controlled and composed.

“Going a goal behind would have rattled the cage a bit a few months ago, but we’re starting to show some consistency.

“We’re beginning to build and it’s important not to get too high or too low – it’s just straight on to the next game.

“There were a lot of questions asked about this side earlier on in the season when we were huffing and puffing a bit.

“But it’s coming together at a good time for us as we approach the busy Christmas period and we want to maintain this form to push towards the automatic spots.”

Pompey were backed by almost 1,000 fans at Kenilworth Road and Forde was pleased they were able to witness such a convincing performance.

He said: “Luton is a great place to come and play your football and there was fantastic support there from the Pompey fans – as always.

“It was just great to show them what we’re all about, but it’s important that everyone stays grounded and patient.”
