MATCH PREVIEW: CHELTENHAM v POMPEY

18 November 2016

All you need to know about League Two clash

Pompey have collected seven points from the last nine available on the road.

And Paul Cook’s side will aim to build on that impressive record when they make the trip to Cheltenham on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Their hosts are currently down in 21st position, having won just three of their 16 league fixtures this season.

Gary Johnson led the Gloucestershire outfit to National League promotion last term, but they are now only one point adrift of the drop zone.

They are not the easiest side to beat, however, with last Saturday’s defeat at Hartlepool their first in any competition for almost two months.

And the Robins should be in confident mood following a 4-1 thrashing of Crewe in Tuesday night’s FA Cup replay.

History suggests that this weekend’s clash will be a draw, with all four of the side’s previous competitive meetings finishing all square.

Nigel Atangana’s stunning strike helped secure a 1-1 stalemate when the Blues last visited Whaddon Road in December 2014.

TEAM NEWS
Amine Linganzi serves the final match of a three-game ban, while Curtis Main (abdominal) is out injured.

Kyle Storer is suspended for Cheltenham, who are also without midfielder Asa Hall (Achilles).
