OLDER FANS INVITED TO SHARE THEIR MEMORIES

14 November 2016

Pompey History Society event at Fratton Park

Collecting memories of the Blues’ past is the focus of a day the Pompey History Society are organising for the club’s older fans.

On Friday, November 18 (11am-3pm), supporters aged 60 and over are invited to come along to the Warrior Lounge at Fratton Park to share their memories.

Volunteers will be on hand to help collate the recollections of fans, either on special forms or by recording them.

There will also be a display of memorabilia from the club’s promotions years – 1962, 1980, 1983, 1987 and 2003 – to help jog memories.

Organiser Colin Farmery, who heads up Pompey’s history and archiving projects, said: “We held a similar event last season and it was very successful.

“The history society is really keen to engage with supporters to ensure that vast reservoir of recollections is not lost.”

Author and Pompey History Society committee member Roger Holmes will also be present, selling copies of his season-by-season booklets, which chronicle the club’s Football League and Premier League history.

For more information on the event, email history@pompeyfc.co.uk or call (023) 9273 1204 to speak to Colin.
