LINGANZI: OUR DESIRE MATCHED OUR QUALITY

Midfielder pleased with Orient triumph

Amine Linganzi believes that Pompey have found the perfect recipe for success.

The midfielder was part of the side that secured a second away win of the campaign at Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Christian Burgess headed home a Carl Baker corner in the second half to help the Blues move up to fourth in the League Two table.

And Linganzi felt that they showed the requisite amount of desire to complement their qualities on the ball.

He said: “I’m really pleased because we worked really hard after suffering two defeats.

“The atmosphere in the team wasn’t the best after that, but at a club like this you have to be looking to win every game.

“That’s the mentality we need and I think we proved that we have it in our minds and in our hearts.

“We know we have good ability in the side, but that’s not always enough and we showed that there is also a hunger. That was the difference.

“We’ve also been working on our pressing and it worked perfectly. The big teams look to win the ball back as soon as they lose it – if they can do it then so can we.

“Now we have to repeat this. Everyone’s happy after a win, but then you need to concentrate on the next one and look to get the same outcome.”

Linganzi was handed his full league debut at Brisbane Road after joining Pompey on a short-term contract in August.

He said: “I was happy to start and that the gaffer has given me a chance to impress. I just needed to stay patient and work hard in training.

“I always want to show what I’m capable of and know that I have to take any opportunity that comes my way.”
