MATCH PREVIEW: CAMBRIDGE v POMPEY

28 October 2016

All you need to know about League Two clash

Pompey are looking for a return to winning ways when they head to Cambridge on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

They failed to build on impressive performances at Leyton Orient and Plymouth by slipping to a home defeat against Notts County last weekend.

But the omens certainly point towards a better outcome at the Abbey Stadium for Paul Cook’s troops.

There have been 16 previous competitive meetings between the sides, with United triumphing on just one occasion.

That came all the way back in 1978, while Pompey have come out on top 12 times – including the last five clashes.

A 6-2 away rout is probably the most memorable, with Matt Tubbs bagging a hat-trick in February 2015.

Cambridge endured a terrible opening to the current campaign, failing to taste victory in any of their first eight league matches.

But Shaun Derry’s side have turned things around in recent weeks, winning four of the last six to move away from the bottom two.

TEAM NEWS
Paul Cook has no injury worries, despite a hamstring scare for Enda Stevens last Saturday.

Former Pompey players James Dunne and Adam McGurk could feature for the hosts, who are without the suspended Luke Berry.
