MATCH PREVIEW: POMPEY v NOTTS COUNTY

21 October 2016

All you need to know about League Two clash

It is a welcome return to Fratton Park for Pompey following successive league matches on the road.

And after collecting four points from visits to Leyton Orient and Plymouth, they will look to transfer that form to their own patch.

Opposition comes in the form of a Notts County side who are currently sitting 12th in the League Two standings.

But despite being seven places below the Blues, the points gap between the sides is just three.

John Sheridan’s men would probably have expected to be higher after winning six out of eight games in August and September.

But the Magpies have collected just a solitary point from the last three matches to halt their progress.

They were on the end of a 4-0 thrashing on their most recent visit to Fratton Park back in March.

Kyle Bennett bagged a brace, while Christian Burgess and Marc McNulty were also on target as Pompey gained revenge for a 2-1 defeat at Meadow Lane earlier in the campaign.

TEAM NEWS
Paul Cook has a full squad to choose from, with Adam Buxton (ankle), Matt Clarke (leg), Noel Hunt (groin) and Drew Talbot (hamstring) all back in training.

League Two top scorer Jon Stead (ankle) is out for the visitors, with Alan Smith (hip) and Curtis Thompson (ankle) also sidelined.
