Pompey midfielder nominated for player prize
Gary Roberts has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League Two September Player of the Month award.
The Pompey midfielder will have to fight off competition from Plymouth’s Sonny Bradley, Notts County’s Jon Stead and Hartlepool’s Nathan Thomas to claim the prize.
Roberts was nominated after scoring three goals – including a fine individual effort in the rout of Barnet – and providing two assists last month.
The winner will be announced on Friday and is decided by a judging panel that compromises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet football trading manager Paul Lowery.
