DAVIES: WE'LL BE READY

27 September 2016

Defender says Pompey are prepared for Blackpool clash

The fixture computer was not being overly kind to Pompey when arranging midweek away games.

Back in June, it spat out Tuesday night visits to Morecambe and Blackpool.

And the Blues will navigate the second of those tests tonight (7.45pm kick-off) when they visit Bloomfield Road.

But Tom Davies is not going to use the mammoth trek as an excuse, as Pompey go in search of their second victory on the road this term.

The defender said: “When you sign for a club down south, you know that you’ll be making these long trips.

“It’s not something that’s just been sprung on us. We travelled up on Monday and have prepared as well as we possibly can.

“We’ll be ready come 7.45pm on Tuesday night and will hopefully get the positive result we’re all looking for.

“I can’t really put my finger on why we haven’t been so good away from home, but we’re working hard to change that.”

Pompey could come up against Jamille Matt, who scored against Pompey three times in two games while on loan at Plymouth last season.

Davies said: “I know him well and he’s a good lad, but is just coming back from an injury, so I don’t know if he’ll be starting.

“The league is sorting itself at the moment and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Blackpool up there come the end of the season.

“But we’ve got to concentrate on ourselves because I believe we’ve got more attacking talent than anyone in this league.

“It’s up to me and the other lads at the back to make sure we shut up shop and I’m sure we’ll do the business at the opposite end.”
