LALKOVIC: WE HAVE TO BE PATIENT

9 September 2016

Winger looking to extend winning run

It took just nine minutes for Pompey to unlock Crawley’s defence at Fratton Park last week.

But Milan Lalkovic knows that patience might be required if they are to record another victory on Saturday.

The Blues host a Wycombe side who have won just once in the league so far and sit 22nd in the table.

And while Lalkovic wants to see Pompey extend their run of successive victories to four, he does not expect their opponents to simply roll over.

The Slovakian winger said: “We had a great win last week, but every game is different and we need to make sure we’re up for it again on Saturday.

“If we take the same approach against Wycombe then we should do well and hopefully get the result we’re looking for.

“We got an early goal and that helps because it opens teams up, but we have to be patient if that doesn’t happen.

“Everybody gets frustrated – fans and players – when things don’t go your way, but the important thing is to keep believing.

“We’ve won three games in a row and now we just want to stay positive and keep that run going.

“It would be nice to extend it to four this early in the season and we’re just taking it game by game at the moment. “

Lalkovic is looking forward to seeing Fratton Park packed out yet again and believes the supporters have an important role to play.

He said: “More than 16,000 fans is fantastic and it’s awesome to play in front of such a large crowd. It really does help us.”
