Midfielder confident ahead of Barnet test

Pompey can go into Saturday’s clash with Barnet at Fratton Park in confident mood.

That is the view of Danny Rose after last week saw the Blues’ winning run come to an end with defeat at Accrington.

The midfielder concedes that they were well below their best and the disappointment was difficult to shake off.

But he is keen to focus on what happened prior to that result and is geared up to face the Bees.

Rose said: “It takes a while to get it out of the system, but once you get back on the training ground you start to look forward to the next game.

“That’s what has happened this week – we’ve worked hard on the things that we needed to improve and we’re in a good place heading into Saturday.

“When you produce a bad performance, the important thing is how you bounce back from that.

“I think we can take positives from the run we went on before, when we showed that we can win different kinds of matches.

“Now it’s just about getting back to basics, picking up three more points and trying to get another run of victories started.”

Barnet’s visit to Fratton Park is the start of a big few days for the Blues, who travel to Blackpool on Tuesday before hosting Doncaster.

Rose said: “The games are coming thick and fast now with three big tests in a week, but I think most players would tell you that’s what they like.

“We’ve got Barnet first and everyone knows that John Akinde is a big threat up front – he’s a powerful striker and we’ll have to nullify him.

“A lot of teams change their system when they go to Fratton Park, so we’ll have to see how they line up.

“But we’ll just try to take care of our own game and if we produce the level of performance we’re capable of then we can be confident.”
