A CHANCE TO SHINE

7 April 2017

Striker interviewed in Yeovil programme

It was a game that most Pompey players will want to quickly forget.

But there was one man with something to be happy about after a 3-0 defeat at promotion rivals Stevenage.

Nicke Kabamba came off the bench in the second half to make his first ever appearance in professional football.

And now the January signing from Hampton & Richmond is eager for more opportunities to impress.

“Making my debut was an absolutely brilliant experience,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Yeovil. “Everyone wants to be a professional footballer, so it was something I’d been waiting for.

“I only had a couple of minutes at Hartlepool last week, but even that was great for me.

“I had to be ready to be called upon whenever I was needed and I wanted to make sure that I took my chance.

“I’m slowly being introduced to the team and I’ll keep working hard to make sure that keeps happening.”

To read the full interview – where Kabamba also discusses his rise into the full-time game and goalscoring exploits for the reserves – pick up a copy of the magazine from programme sellers around the ground.

Also in issue 23, Matt Clarke takes the 20 Questions challenge, while we test Jamal Lowe’s general knowledge.

There is an in-depth look at Yeovil, plus exclusive columns from Iain McInnes, Paul Cook and Michael Doyle.

All this and much, much more in a packed 84 pages is available for just £3.
