Lowe delighted to open his Blues account

It was the moment that Jamal Lowe had been waiting for.

With 12 minutes remaining of Pompey’s clash with Yeovil, the substitute picked the ball up on the right.

He then bulldozed his way into the area before finding the net from an acute angle to seal a 3-1 victory.

It saw Lowe open his Blues account in his 10th appearance since signing from Hampton & Richmond in January and left the winger hungry for more.

He said: “It was my first goal and it came at the Fratton End – I couldn’t really ask for much more than that.

“I just bundled my way through and it was quite similar to the one I scored for the reserves earlier in the week.

“I could have crossed the ball, but thought I’d try to squeeze it in and thankfully it’s gone into the back of the net.

“When it went in I was trying to jump into the crowd, but Kyle Bennett had me in a head-lock, so probably stopped me getting a yellow card.

“It’s a weight off my shoulders, so hopefully the gates will now open and I can get more and more.”

The result saw Pompey increase their gap over the chasing pack to eight points in the race for automatic promotion.

Lowe said: “We’re in a great position and some other results went our way, although we don’t focus too much on that.

“There are more big games coming on Friday and then the following Monday, so we have to make sure we’re ready for them.

“You take more confidence when you win and we’re on a good roll, but we can’t take our foot off the gas.”

Absolutely buzzin! Great performance from the boys!! Long awaited #GoalsLikeJamz 🔥💙
