New owner Michael Eisner praises Blues support
Pompey have a new owner following the takeover of the club by Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company.
The news was announced just two days before the Blues’ 2017/18 League One opener against Rochdale.
And Eisner’s first act as owner was to sit down in front of the iFollow Pompey cameras for an exclusive interview.
“We looked at MLS in the United States, around Europe and in the UK,” he said after being asked about his interest in the Fratton Park outfit. “Mark Catlin said ‘come on down to Portsmouth’, so we did and that was the beginning.
“We had seen a number of other opportunities and there was no other fan-base that came close.
“Then we met Mark Catlin and (finance director) Tony Brown and found management that you can never find.
"We had seen a number of other opportunities and there was no other fan-base that came close."
“It was clear from day one that Mark knew what he was doing and was a pretty good conductor.
“It all came together and my son Eric said: ‘You know what, Dad? It’s Portsmouth or it’s nothing.’
“We’re about building, but we want to do it the right way – the smart way. It’s about finding players from other clubs, but also focusing on the academy to build a club that’s balanced”
