Winger celebrates 100 Pompey appearances

21 August 2017

He has made more appearances than any other member of Pompey’s current squad.

And an injury to Drew Talbot at Fratton Park on Saturday allowed Kyle Bennett to celebrate his century.

The winger emerged from the bench in the 36th minute of a 1-1 League One draw against Walsall.

Now he is looking to build on the landmark at a club where he has enjoyed plenty of success since arriving in 2015.

Bennett said: “It’s a great achievement for me and hopefully I can play many more games for Pompey.

"100 games is quite a lot for any player to feature in for one club, so I’m delighted with that."

“This is a fantastic club and it really only feels like yesterday when I first came down to sign here.

“I love being here and 100 games is quite a lot for any player to feature in for one club, so I’m delighted with that.

“The first year was disappointing because we lost in the play-offs, but we picked ourselves up to win the league.

“So I’m pleased with my time here and hopefully I’ve been able to contribute to that success we’ve had.”

Pompey were only able to collect a point against the Saddlers, but Bennett is not feeling too low about that.

He said: “It’s a long season and you can’t get down after three games – especially as we’ve still managed to collect four points.

“We’ve got a new manager and quite a few new players, so it will take some time for us to all get used to each other.”
