With the big day fast approaching, many of you will be looking forward a to festive period full of indulgence.
But for professional footballers, Christmas just means even more work than usual.
Pompey will fit in five matches between now and New Year’s Day, starting with this afternoon’s clash with struggling Bury.
And while Kyle Bennett admits it can be tough, the 27-year-old certainly would not have it any other way.
“It’s difficult because you have to spend a fair bit of time away from your family,” he says in the official matchday magazine for today’s game.
“That’s something a lot of people perhaps don’t realise, but it’s part of the job and you know what you’re signing up for.
"It’s part of the job and you know what you’re signing up for."
“We just have to get on with it. We’ll be training on Christmas Day because we’ve got a game the following day, which is great entertainment for everyone.
“You perhaps have to watch what you eat as well, although it depends who you are. I could eat a horse – although I wouldn’t because I’m a vegan – and would probably stay the same size.”
