Ben Close has signed a two-year extension to his Pompey contract.
The new deal will keep the 21-year-old midfielder at Fratton Park until the summer of 2020.
Close is a graduate of the Blues academy and has made 20 appearances so far this term, opening his goalscoring account in November’s victory at Blackpool.
He said: “It’s a great feeling to commit myself to this club and I’m grateful to have had the chance to play more games this season.

“The gaffer’s put his faith in me and I’m just trying to play as well as I can. Thankfully, I’ve had a good run in the team and that’s earned me a new contract.”
Close made his Pompey debut in an EFL Trophy win at Yeovil back in September 2014 and has made 47 first team appearances.
