Defender excited by Blues loan
Aaron Simpson is excited about the chance to prove himself at Pompey.
The teenage full-back arrived on loan from Wolves just over an hour before the transfer window closed.
He has yet to make his senior debut for the Championship side, although has featured in EFL Trophy matches.
Now Simpson hopes to get a taste of League Two football during the Blues’ bid for promotion.
He said: “I had my mind set on staying at Wolves, but the move came about late in the evening and it all happened pretty quickly.
“When I went to pack my bags I just got really excited and now I can’t wait to get started here.
“The gaffer’s told me to work hard, so hopefully I can prove myself in training and get some games.
“This is such a big club with a lot of history, so it’s a great opportunity for me. There will be nerves, but I’m looking forward to it.”
Simpson received words of encouragement from a former team-mate before arriving on the south coast.
He said: “I met Jed Wallace when he came to Wolves and we got along well. He’s said nice things about this club and how great the fans are.”
