MATCH PREVIEW: CRAWLEY v POMPEY

20 January 2017

All you need to know about League Two clash

Pompey could finish the week inside League Two’s automatic promotion places.

For that to happen they will need to win away at Crawley, while hoping that third-placed Carlisle fail to beat Accrington.

But they are facing a Red Devils side who have been beaten just twice on their own patch all season.

Notts County and Cambridge are the only two sides to have left Broadfield Stadium with a maximum haul of points.

Despite that, the Sussex outfit are currently down in 13th position, although they are a mere five points adrift of the play-off spots.

Curtis Main’s brace and a goal from Gary Roberts secured a 3-0 victory for the hosts when the sides met at Fratton Park earlier in the campaign.

That was only the fifth competitive clash between the sides – which have all taken place in the past five years.

Pompey have not lost either of their previous two visits to Crawley, although they failed to break down a stubborn Reds side in last term’s corresponding fixture.

TEAM NEWS
Curtis Main is the only absentee for Pompey, with Gareth Evans recovering from the ankle problem which saw him substituted against Leyton Orient.

Matt Harrold (Achilles) is out for the hosts, who could include former Blues youngster Andre Blackman in their squad.
