ROSE HOPING TO BOUNCE BACK

28 January 2017

Midfielder looks for quick recovery after Exeter loss

Danny Rose hopes Pompey’s ‘bouncebackability’ will be evident next week.

On all but one occasion so far this season, a league defeat has immediately been followed by a victory.

Blues fans will certainly want to see an improvement after watching their side limply beaten by Exeter at Fratton Park.

David Wheeler secured all three points for the in-form visitors after an unfortunate ricochet off Rose.

And the midfielder knows that Pompey must perform to a higher standard if they want to achieve their goals.

He said: “The crowd were understandably frustrated because we fell short and didn’t create enough chances.

“Jamal Lowe was a breath of fresh air when he came on, though, and the fans were enthused whenever he got on the ball. I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of him.

“Exeter only had a handful of opportunities themselves and they caught us with a sucker punch.

“But we’ve bounced back pretty well following disappointing results in the past and that’s what we’ve got to do this time.

“A good majority of this squad have seen success in the past and hopefully those credentials will prove the difference.

“It will be a hard week of preparations geared towards the Wycombe game and we’re in no doubt that it will be tough.

“I’m sure it will be a physical encounter and we’ve played them twice already this season, so we know what to expect.

“We need to try to get ourselves back on another run if we want to get closer to the automatic places.”
