Goalscorer not surprised by tough encounter
Pompey certainly did not have it all their own way at Poole.
They fell two goals down to their National League South hosts before eventually easing to a 6-3 victory.
Nicke Kabamba was one of three Blues players to bag a brace, with Ben Close and Curtis Main also notching twice each.
And the striker was not surprised that Poole put up such a commendable fight at the Black Gold Stadium.
He said: “It’s always nice to score goals in any games and that can give me a bit of extra confidence moving forwards.
“I’ve played against Poole before – and I’m pretty sure that I scored twice the last time I came up against them as well.
"Ultimately our quality came through in the end and we got the win."
“I know that when you’re at a non-league club and play against a big side, you see it as an opportunity to put yourself in the shop window.
“That’s why they gave us a good game, but ultimately our quality came through in the end and we got the win.”
Kabamba has enjoyed working with new manager Kenny Jackett since the return to training almost a fortnight ago.
He said: “The gaffer’s definitely stamped his mark on things and has been getting his philosophy across to us.
“He wants to be high-tempo and when we don’t have the ball, we need to get it back as quickly as possible.
“It’s been brilliant. We’ve been working six days a week and that’s what you need to do ahead of a long season.”
