Loan signing targets successful season for Pompey
He helped Huddersfield reach the Premier League last season.
Now Tareiq Holmes-Dennis is looking forward to aiding Pompey in their first campaign back in League One.
The left-back has joined the Blues on a season-long loan deal from the West Yorkshire outfit.
And he is excited by the opportunity of being part of another successful season on the south coast.
Holmes-Dennis said: “Huddersfield are making a few signings, so it’s right that I go out on loan and come to a good club.
“I remember Pompey being in the Premier League when I was younger, so it’s great for me to be at a place like this.
"I need to keep pushing myself to get this club to where it needs to be."
“Last season was amazing because nobody expected us to do as well as we did. It was unbelievable to be involved in that.
“Now this is another challenge for me and I need to keep pushing myself to get this club to where it needs to be.
“There are no limits to what can be achieved. It was a good season last time and there’s no reason why it can’t be the same again.”
Holmes-Dennis was on loan at Plymouth for their 2-1 defeat at Fratton Park in April 2015 and it was an experience he remembers well.
He said: “I saw how well the club did last season and I played against them a few years ago, so I know how amazing the fans are.

“It really stuck in my mind just how good the support was and how many there were for a game in League Two.
“They get behind the team, so playing in front of them – with them behind me – will be unreal.”
