JAMAL NOT FEELING LOWE

14 March 2017

Winger ready to wait for his chance

He has had to watch the last few matches from the bench.

And Jamal Lowe is prepared to be patient as he waits for his chance to make another Pompey appearance.

The January signing from Hampton & Richmond enjoyed a prolific first half of the campaign for the non-league side.

But he knows that he now has to prove his worth at a higher level alongside more experienced team-mates.

“It’s something to expect after coming from non-league,” he says in the official matchday magazine for tonight’s match. “We’ve got some great players in this squad who have played at a higher level.

“Some of them have appeared in the Championship and Premier League. You’ve got to respect that and it’s a healthy thing to have that level of competition in your side.

“I’m not just going to come straight in and take a place in the starting 11 every week. I’m just waiting patiently for my chances and have to be ready to take them when they come along.

“I’ll bide my time and make sure that I prepare properly in training, but I’m confident in my ability.

“The gaffer brought me in because he believes that I can do a job for this team. I’ll be ready to do that whenever I’m called upon.”

To read the full interview – where Lowe also talks about his hunger to make the most of a second chance at full-time football – pick up a copy of the magazine from programme sellers around the ground.

Also in issue 21, Danny Rose takes the 20 Questions challenge, while we test Kal Naismith’s general knowledge.

There is an in-depth look at Grimsby, plus exclusive columns from Iain McInnes, Paul Cook and Michael Doyle.

All this and much, much more in a packed 84 pages is available for just £3.
