The pre-season encounter takes place in south Wales on Friday, July 28, with a 7pm kick-off.
Ticket information for the Cardiff City Stadium clash will be announced in due course.
Pompey last met the Bluebirds for a Championship fixture in January 2012, with Marko Futacs and Greg Halford on target in a 3-2 defeat.
The sides also famously faced off at Wembley in the 2008 FA Cup final, with Kanu's strike securing a narrow victory for the Blues.
Meanwhile, Pompey's first friendly of the summer will be a trip to Salisbury on Saturday, July 1 (3pm kick-off).
