STEVENS NAMED PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE SEASON

9 May 2017

Defender takes top prize at awards dinner

Enda Stevens was named Players’ Player of the Season at Pompey’s 2016/17 awards dinner.

The left-back – who has scored once in 46 appearances for the Blues this term – received the most votes from his team-mates, ahead of Matt Clarke and Christian Burgess.

But Burgess was named Player of the Season by guests at the gala ceremony in the Victory Lounge, with Conor Chaplin’s fine effort against Wycombe selected as Goal of the Season.

Teenage defender Eddie Wakley was chosen as Academy Player of the Season, while 15 goals from Kal Naismith saw him collect the Golden Boot and Junior Blues Player of the Season prizes.

And outgoing chairman Iain McInnes also received a special recognition award to pay tribute for everything he has done for the club.

The night started with Blues boss Paul Cook and skipper Michael Doyle interviewed on stage by host Andrew Moon, while later there was entertainment from after dinner speaker Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock.

Meanwhile, thousands of pounds were raised for Pompey in the Community and the academy with a raffle and auction.
