Injuries have blighted his time at Fratton Park to date.
But Curtis Main is hoping to put all that behind him and prove he can lead the line for Pompey in League One.
The striker made his fifth appearance of the season at Charlton in the Checkatrade Trophy earlier in the week.
And he certainly made a positive impression, netting the only goal of the game to ensure the Blues progressed to the knockout stages.
Pompey are now looking to get their league form back on track at Blackpool on Saturday and Main wants to play a part.
He said: “I was pleased to get back into the team after a little niggle and to get on the scoresheet as well made it a good night.
“The game came at a decent time for me and after getting an hour on the pitch I can move on to the weekend.
"I’m hoping now that all the injury stuff is behind me and I can be fully focused on letting my football do the talking."
“Hopefully my performances in the matches I have been involved in can help towards getting even more time.
“Whether it’s starting or coming off the bench doesn’t really matter – I feel fit and will be ready to take my chance.
“I’m hoping now that all the injury stuff is behind me and I can be fully focused on letting my football do the talking.
“I’ve no doubt that the fans will see what I’m really about if I get in the team because they’ve only really seen glimpses so far.
“If I can get a consistent run of games for Pompey then I am confident that the performances will follow.
“But the team is full of quality and there is a lot of competition for places. There can only be 11 on the pitch, so it’s up to all of us to do as much as we can to warrant being out there.”
