Brett Pitman has been named Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for September.
The striker netted six goals in seven games, including braces in victories over Fleetwood and Bristol Rovers.
He broke his nose while scoring his first against the former, but stayed on the pitch to add a second with a fine curling finish.
Pitman said: “I’m delighted to receive this award and with the start I have made to my Pompey career.
“But it is just a start and I know I need to keep scoring goals once I have recovered from my injury. I also need to thank my team-mates for providing me with so many chances to find the net.”
Blues boss Kenny Jackett added: “Brett enjoyed a very successful September and scored some important goals for us.
“He showed his commitment and desire by staying on the pitch after breaking his nose against Fleetwood.
“I’m sure that he will continue to play a vital role in the team when he returns to fitness.”
"I’m delighted to receive this award and with the start I have made to my Pompey career."
Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “In what is ending as a tough week for Pitman, after two operations on his knee and a broken nose, we have to look back on an outstanding month and some sublime goals.
“He has already proven a shrewd addition by Kenny Jackett, offering goals and leadership – and will be vital if Pompey are to begin to work their way up the table when he returns next month.”
Pitman saw off competition from Wigan winger Michael Jacobs, Rotherham striker Kieffer Moore and Blackburn midfielder Richard Smallwood to claim the prize.
The winner was decided by a judging panel that included Goodman, League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL trader Mikey Mumford.
