Lowe interviewed in Oldham programme

29 September 2017

It is arguably the most competitive position in the Pompey squad.

So Jamal Lowe knows that he has to keep his performance levels high if he wants to keep a place on the wing.

The 23-year-old had an unwelcome start to the season when he was sent off on the opening day and forced to miss three matches.

But he has been a regular in recent weeks and netted a brace in a 4-1 victory over Fleetwood a fortnight ago.

With other members of the squad nipping at his heels, though, Lowe is determined to maintain his high standards.

“We’ve got plenty of guys who can play in those wide positions – and they’re all talented players,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Oldham.

“So the competition is fierce at the moment and with Milan the only one currently injured, there is a lot for the manager to choose from.

"That role on the right is probably my best position, either that or on the other flank."

“Benno is one of the best players I’ve seen and he had to miss out on some games recently, so that shows you how much quality we have here.

“That role on the right is probably my best position, either that or on the other flank. I seem to have been everywhere this season, but that’s part of the job and I’m happy to go wherever the gaffer wants to use me.”

Also in issue seven, Oliver Hawkins reveals his favourite things, while Milan Lalkovic is next to take the ‘Home & Away’ quiz.
