He netted four goals in just three appearances during the month, with braces in victories over Oldham and Oxford.
The Blues skipper also made a vital clearance from the line in the televised win over the latter side at Fratton Park.
He will have to fight off competition from Fleetwood goalkeeper Alex Cairns, Wigan defender Chey Dunkley and Peterborough striker Jack Marriott to claim the prize.
The winner will be announced on Friday morning and is decided by a judging panel that includes Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL trader Mikey Mumford.
