Green Keen On Blues Move

New loan signing excited by Pompey switch

29 August 2018

He has only known life as a footballer for Aston Villa.

But Andre Green did not have to think twice about moving on loan to Pompey for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old – who is comfortable on the wing or in a more central role – missed a large chunk of last season with a hamstring injury.

And now he is looking forward to helping the Blues continue their positive start to the 2018/19 campaign.

Green said: “I’m really excited for the challenge and it’s a step that I really felt I needed to take.

“My aim is to have a run of games and get back to where I was before my injuries. I want to show the fans what I can bring to the club.

"You only have to look at what has been achieved here and how good the fans are. It was no-brainer coming here."

“I’ve been at Villa my whole life and this has all happened so quickly – I got the call at 8.30am on Wednesday – so I’m still getting my head around it.

“But once I heard the interest from Pompey, I knew it was an opportunity I had to take because of the stature of this club.

“You only have to look at what has been achieved here and how good the fans are. It was a no-brainer coming here.

“It’s one of the big-boys in this division and I’m happy to be a part of it as we hopefully push on towards great things.”

Green is confident that he has the attributes to help Pompey mount a League One promotion push.

He said: “I like to say I’m a powerful and explosive player. I try to get at people and I want to win, score and assist.

“Every player has their own target for the season, although my main focus is doing well for the team and taking the club back to where it belongs.”
